DESCRIPTION:Feeling safe and empowered is a right we all deserve. Our five-week self-defence course is designed to give LGBTQ+ people the tools and skills to feel more confident in protecting themselves. \nThis course is open to all\, regardless of fitness level or previous experience\, and will provide you with practical techniques to help navigate potential safety concerns. \nOur experienced instructor\, Declan Kidd\, has years of training in martial arts and self-defence\, with a special focus on inclusive\, trauma-sensitive methods. Declan is passionate about creating a supportive environment where everyone can learn at their own pace. \nCourse Details: \n\nDates: Thursdays\, 19th June – 17th July\nTime: 5:30pm – 6:30pm\nLocation: Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre\, 105 Capel Street\nCost: €25 for the full course (5 sessions)\n\nEach week focuses on building new skills: \n\n\n\nWeek 1 – 19th June: Basic strikes and targets\nWeek 2 – 26th June: Defending against grabs\nWeek 3 – 3rd July: Defending against strikes\nWeek 4 – 10th July: Defending against holds and chokes\nWeek 5 – 17th July: Situational awareness (prevention)\, improvised weapons\, ground fighting\, and defence against multiple attackers\n\n\n\nJoin us for a practical\, engaging course that will help you feel more secure\, no matter where you are.
