2025 Pre-Budget Submission: Outhouse Urges Government to Invest in LGBTQ+ Community

In our Pre-Budget Submission for 2025, we call on the Government to prioritise investment in LGBTQ+ support services, community spaces, and policy reforms. Our pre-budget submission highlights the continued challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community in Ireland, such as discrimination, inadequate mental health services, and a growing need for accessible, safe spaces.

Key proposals include:

  • Trans Healthcare: Developing a comprehensive and accessible care model for trans individuals, ensuring timely access to gender-affirming services.
  • Mental Health Services: Expanding public mental health services specifically for LGBTQ+ individuals, including increasing the number of trained professionals nationwide.
  • Multi-Annual Funding: Introducing multi-annual financial support for LGBTQ+ organisations to ensure their sustainability and capacity to meet the growing demand for services.
  • Investing in LGBTQ+ Community Spaces: Addressing the historic underinvestment in LGBTQ+ community spaces nationwide to expand capacity, improve accessibility, and ensure inclusivity for all.

The total estimated budget for all of the proposals in our pre-budget submission is €65.1 million, with a significant portion allocated to once-off capital spending for safe and accessible LGBTQ+ community spaces across Ireland.
