Our team is here for you
At Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre, our case management team plays a crucial role in supporting LGBTQ+ people as they navigate life's trials and tribulations. If you are experiencing difficulties and would like to have some one-to-one support, please consider Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre’s community casework.
The first step to accessing our community casework service is to contact our team using our Information & Referral Service. If our community casework service is the right fit for your needs, our team will work with you to plan the next steps.
Reminder: In an emergency, always call 999 or 112 for immediate support. You can also freephone the Samaritans on 116-123 at any time, 365 days a year.
What can you expect from our community casework?
Everybody’s lived experience is unique, so our team will conduct an initial assessment with you to understand your circumstances, challenges, and objectives. They will work with you to identify your specific needs and develop an individualised care plan to help you achieve your goals.
Your wellbeing is at the centre of what we do, and within our walls, you will be treated with dignity and respect. We understand that support systems can often be difficult to navigate and may leave you feeling unsafe and unseen. Our community casework team is committed to showing acceptance, empathy, and kindness to everyone who comes through our door.
Who is the community casework service for?
Everyone’s experience is unique to them, and there are many intersecting factors that can affect the support you need.
The following examples are for guidance, but it is not an exhaustive list.
- Someone who is experiencing emotional, mental health, relational, and/or economic challenges;
- Someone who has had difficulties engaging with other support services due to their sexuality or gender identity;
- Someone whose current circumstances and/or lived experience are making it difficult for them to connect with their community.
Please be mindful that we are a small team, and in order to meet the standards of care that our community deserves, we can only take on a limited number of cases.
What are the limitations of the service
- Someone who is under the age of 18;
- Someone who is in crisis and in need of medical intervention to ensure their safety;
- Someone who is unwilling or not currently capable of actively engaging in their community casework plan;
- Someone who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol while accessing the service.
