Conveniently located in the city centre on Capel Street with a variety of room sizes and furnishings, Outhouse is an exciting and alternative space to host your public or private event. When you choose to host your event at Outhouse, you are helping provide life-saving services to the LGBTQ+ community in Dublin.

Explore Our Space

Our historic and beautiful Georgian building, one of the first to be built in Dublin in the 1770s, boasts a variety of unique and welcoming spaces to suit your needs, including a relaxed Library, an exquisite period drawing room called the Red Room, and an exciting multi-purpose audiovisual space in the Theatre.

Our Rooms

The Red Room, an original Georgian drawing room, features a 12-foot plasterwork ceiling and full-height sash windows with views of Capel Street, perfect for various events like meetings, workshops, conferencing, and exhibitions. Hosting government consultations, Culture Night exhibits, and community events, it seamlessly connects to the Library, forming an ideal entertainment and exhibition space if desired.

The Outhouse Theatre is our largest space and is fully equipped with state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment and a versatile stage for diverse events, from screenings to cabaret, board meetings to workshops. Hosting renowned artists and festivals like Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, it offers a unique and exciting backdrop.

The Outhouse Library is an intimate space with a welcoming ambiance, surrounded by over 4,000 LGBTQ+ books. It’s the perfect spot for meetings, workshops, book readings, community gatherings, and more.

  • HD-ready projector

Our café is a cosy, warm, and inviting space that welcomes everyone. It is a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community to drop in, and home to many of our regular social groups. For special occasions and events, the café can be made available for booking.

Venue for Hire FAQ’s

Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre is available for bookings within the following:

  • Mon – Fri: 9:30am – 9:00pm
  • Sat: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Sun: Closed.

Bookings outside of these hours are possible but will be subject to additional costs to cover staffing and insurance.

Pricing will vary depending on the details of your booking. Contact us to discuss pricing for your event; we would be happy to prepare a quotation based on your enquiry. Non-profit and community organisations can benefit from competitive rates.

We ask that requests be made at least 2 weeks in advance, but will endeavour to accommodate events where possible. For larger-scale events, like fundraisers or performances, we ask for at least 6 weeks notice to properly coordinate logistical arrangements (including a walk-through to coordinate your set-up, connecting with your A/V team, etc).

While we try to respond to all requests as quickly as possible, we are a small (but mighty!) team and may take up to 3 business days to respond. Please do not submit duplicate requests.

Yes, we offer catering for events. Please get in touch with our Venue Officer to arrange catering. Sample catering menu includes:

  • Classic & Vegetarian / Vegan Sandwich Platters
  • Homemade Soup & Sandwich or Slice of Soda Bread
  • Vegan Wraps / Pitta
  • Finger Food Platter
  • Flask of Tea (serves 15 approx)
  • Flask of Coffee (serves 15 approx)

The Outhouse Café is open during the following:

  • Mon: Closed.
  • Tue: 2:30pm – 9:00pm
  • Wed – Fri: 12:00pm – 9:00pm
  • Sat: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Sun: Closed.


Event catering is possible outside of these hours. Please check with the Venue Officer at the time of booking.

We provide the space and the equipment itself but do not have the capacity to manage extensive set-up, run your media during the event, or provide extended A/V support on the day of. (This is why we require technical walkthroughs for events with high technical needs).

If you’d like to record, livestream, or do any videography, we require you to bring your own A/V point-person and to schedule a call connecting us with them at least 2 weeks prior to the event itself.

Some groups may be required to have their own Public Liability Insurance, however, some may be covered under Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre’s Public Liability Insurance. Please check with the Venue Officer at the time of booking. Call (01) 873 4999 or email us at venue@outhouse.ie

Our centre at 105 Capel Street was built in the 1770s, making it one of the oldest Georgian buildings in Dublin City. Unfortunately, due to the building’s age, importance, and protected status, minimal interventions have been allowed by Dublin City Council to enable universal access. Office Rental

Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre is also home to several resident organisations, providing working space for LGBTQ+ and allied groups including: ShoutOut, Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride, Switchboard, Gay Health Network (GHN), Dublin Lesbian Line, and Sex Workers Alliance Ireland.
