Connect with others and share experiences
Our peer support groups are a space for people to speak openly about their experiences and learn from each other in a safe, supportive environment. Create meaningful connections with like-minded people who can relate to, inform, and even help you along your journey.
Safe Space
Peer support for LGBTQ+ refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants.
Safe Space is a peer support group for LGBTQ+ people who are seeking international protection in Ireland to come together and discuss a range of issues affecting them, share experiences, and seek advice.
Each Safe Space session will have facilitators to guide the group, but the priorities for the session are determined by the participants. The sessions are loosely structured to ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate, and there will be an opportunity for direct support throughout for those who need it.
Safe Space is open to any LGBTQ+ International Protection applicants, including refugees and asylum seekers. We currently have two groups which are split by gender identity. Both groups are inclusive of trans and non-binary participants. You must be registered for the group before you can attend.
Safe Space sessions cover a wide range of topics, but there is always an emphasis on community, safety, resilience, and self-expression. Participants often explore sexuality, gender, self-esteem, communication styles, emotional expression, sexual health, relationships, spirituality, and healthy boundaries.
Our Safe Space peer support groups meet on the first Saturday of each month from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre.
To sign up for Safe Space, simply fill out the registration form and we will be in touch to confirm your details. If you need support to complete the registration form, please contact our team. [link to contact us page]
If you require financial assistance to cover travel costs to attend Safe Space, our team will do what we can to accommodate your travel. Please note, we have limited capacity to support travel costs and cannot guarantee to cover travel costs for all participants.
We understand that it can be a long day, so lunch is provided for all participants. You can share any dietary requirements or allergens on the registration form.
Intersex Peer Support Group
Third Saturday of each month from 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Peer support for Intersex people.
Developed in collaboration with Intersex Ireland, our Intersex Peer Support Group is a space for intersex people to speak openly about their experiences and learn from each other in a safe and supportive environment. The group offers peer support, community building, and empowerment.
Intersex individuals are people who do not match medical and societal norms of so-called female and male bodies with regard to their chromosomal, gonadal, endocrine or anatomical sex. Click here to learn more.
The group is led by Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre volunteers who are Intersex themselves. These facilitators will guide each session, but input from participants is sought when deciding on activities or topics. The sessions are loosely structured to ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate.
The intersex peer support group is an affinity group which means that it is open only to people who are intersex. All intersex people are welcome to register, regardless of their sexuality or affinity to the LGBTQ+ community.
No. This is a group for intersex people, regardless of their identity or sexuality. Anyone who is intersex is welcome to attend.
The primary purpose of the group is to foster a safe and inclusive environment where intersex people can engage in personal development while creating a sense of belonging and community with one another. Additionally, the group offers opportunities for those interested in engaging in activism to build their confidence and resilience. However, this is not a requirement for membership.
Each session covers a wide range of topics, such as: Building Resilience – protecting your wellbeing, improving resilience, coping with tough times, and incorporating self-care into your routine; Sexuality and Sexual Health – exploring attitudes towards sexuality and sexual orientation for intersex people and addressing internalised phobias, and; Identity and Community – discussing personal identity, relationships with gender identity, and the sense of community among intersex people.
To sign up for the intersex peer support group, simply fill out the registration form and we will be in touch to confirm your details. If you need support to complete the registration form, please contact our team.

Young Adult Peer Support Facilitators
Vladimir (He/She)
What I’m looking forward to most is...Helping create a space where all emotions are embraced and encouraged to be expressed, a validating environment in which everyone has a chance to explore their identity, and work towards confidently being their spontaneous authentic self.
A fun fact about me is…I also do drag! Under the guise of an alternative bearded drag witch, I get to express myself through makeup, costuming, performance, with a constant Halloween undertone embracing weirdness and horror.
A bit about my background
I’m a psychologist and counsellor, originally from Romania where I co-facilitated a support group for LGBTQ+ people. I specialise in working with queer identities, neurodivergence, polyamory and psychosexuality.
Patrick (He/Him)
I am most looking forward to working with young LGBTQ+ people to build a special space catered to their needs. I am excited to meet and hear from LGBTQ+ people with different perspectives and see how our community can support one another.
A fun fact about me is…In my free time I enjoy painting and pottery specifically focusing on queer-themed pop art.
