Event Description

Learn English for everyday life in Ireland with our beginner-level workshop series at Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre. The workshops are free – Please show up on the 7th of April for the first class.

Join our 8-week workshop series to help LGBTQ+ people learn English for everyday life in Ireland. We will practise speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a friendly and safe space.

You do not need to be good at English to join. We will learn simple words and sentences for everyday life. We will talk about topics like meeting people, going to the doctor, taking the bus, making friends, finding work, and living in Ireland. We will also share our cultures and support each other.

At the group, you will learn English through playing games, talking with other people and having fun. The workshops will be free, relaxed, and supportive. You will be welcome to attend every week and learn at your own pace.

You do not need a ticket, just check-in with our team at the reception desk at the start.

Our Volunteers:

Nigel
Hi, my name is Nigel and I’m from Co. Mayo. I’ve taught English as a second language for many years in France, Greece and here in Ireland. I’ve tried teaching English to my cat Nuala but she’s not very smart. I’m really happy to be working with the Outhouse to help people improve their language skills and integrate into Ireland. I think tis so important we support our own community so we can all grow and thrive. I really like cheese.

Anthony
Hi! I’m Anthony and I’m from the middle of Ireland! I’m 32, I’e worked in the English teaching industry for 8 years, and now I work as a translator. I love languages, travelling, the gym, photography, cooking, reading, and history! I’m excited to get to know you and help you with your English!

Sinéad
Hey! I’m Sinéad from Co. Meath. I’m a primary school teacher. My favourite subject to teach is Gaeilge (the Irish language). I coach basketball too. When I’m not working you’ll usually find me at a random workshop, or off gallivanting around a new place!
