OUTHOUSE BOOK CLUB: PRIDE EDITION!
We hope you’ll join us for our June Book Club on Wednesday, 18 June, at 6:00pm. Our theme for this month is Banned and Challenged Queer Books, in recognition of the importance of queer visibility, especially in literature.
To that end, we’ll be discussing This Book Is Gay by Juno Dawson.
Description:
Part manifesto, part guidebook, This Book Is Gay is a frank, funny, and deeply informative exploration of what it means to grow up LGBTQIA+. With insight, wit, and honesty, Juno Dawson tackles topics ranging from coming out and relationships to sex, stereotypes, and gender identity. First published in 2014, it has been frequently challenged and banned in schools and libraries—making it all the more urgent and powerful for us to read and discuss.
Whether you’re reading it for the first time or revisiting it, This Book Is Gay offers an affirming space to reflect, learn, and celebrate the diversity of queer experiences.
