On 6th December 2024, a group of feminist and queer academics, along with key Irish peace practitioners, came together for a “Workshop on Queering the Women, Peace and Security Agenda.” This event was co-hosted by Dr Gillian Wylie (Trinity College Dublin), Dr Jamie Hagen (University of Manchester), Dr Anupama Ranawana (Durham University), and Alexandra Richardson (Trinity College Dublin). From this, an outcome report from this event was developed, synthesising the findings from notetaker reports, to highlight recommendations to better-improve this UN gender strategy. To celebrate the creation of this outcome report, Dr Jamie Hagen and Alex Richardson are hosting a ‘drop in’ event for the launch of this report at Outhouse, a cornerstone of LGBTQ+ activism in Ireland. We are excited to share the findings and insights that emerged from our discussions and to reconnect with you all.
Format: A relaxed, drop-in gathering where attendees can explore the printed Outcome Report, engage in informal discussions, listen to a brief presentation on the key findings of the report, and connect with others interested in WPS.
Spaces: The Library will serve as the main venue, with the Café available as a breakout area.
This event is an opportunity to reflect on the key takeaways from our workshop, discuss the next steps for WPS engagement in Ireland, and foster further conversations within the community. We’d love for you to join us. Please mark your calendars, and we’ll be in touch soon with further details. Looking forward to seeing you there!
