At Outhouse, we rely on the support of donors, fundraisers, and volunteers to ensure that our doors remain open to the tens of thousands of people who visit our centre every year to feel safe, seen, and celebrated.
In order to get this support, it is vital that we demonstrate the impact of Outhouse and the work that we do for the LGBTQ+ community. We need people to understand what makes us special and for them to trust that their support will make a real difference.
Storytelling
The best way to show our impact and connect with supporters is through storytelling. Rather than just explaining the programmes and services we offer, we want to showcase the real emotional effect Outhouse has on the lives of people who have found a place for themselves within our walls.
Sharing your story
Through our 26-year history of providing connection, community support, culture, and campaigning for the LGBTQ+ community, there are so many different stories to tell.
Whether you made some of your best friends at Outhouse, found safety within our space, accessed vital support, connected to your community and culture, or something else entirely, your story is worth telling.
If you are interested in sharing what Outhouse means to you, you can tell your story by completing this form .
Privacy and confidentiality
We understand that sharing your story can be a deeply personal thing to do, and not everybody feels comfortable or safe putting that story out into the world. If you would prefer, your identity can remain anonymous if we share your story externally.
How your story may be shared
Our intention is to share your story in Outhouse’s external communications. This could come in a number of formats (e.g. a short quote on our social channels, a longer quote for our website, a long-form story for a fundraising campaign, in a grant application).
While we truly value your story and the time it will take to share it with us, we cannot guarantee when or if it will be shared. We are a very small team and we endeavour to do this work with care, all of which can take time and effort.
