Join us and host Laura Louise Condell of Dublin Lesbian Line for the 8th annual Soapbox Sessions. The speakers this year are from all different backgrounds and identities who share their stories with a particular focus on this years pride theme, ‘In This Together’

Laura Louise has put together a fantastic line-up of speakers so far.

Meet the speakers:

  • Alice and Dylan are a queer married couple from Dublin. They met in college and have been together for the last 7 years.
Dylan came out as transgender in the first few months of their relationship. Throughout the last few years, Alice and Dylan have done some workshops on their relationship and want to share their story to help support other couples who are going through a similar journey, whilst sharing the experience of what it is like to be trans in Ireland post marriage equality and gender recognition.
  • Noelle has spent the last 33 years working as an actor and writer. Her first play, Postscript, co-written with Michéle Forbes, dealt with her experiences of tracing her birth family. She is also an adoption rights activist. At 52, as a direct result of menopause, she became a stand-up comedian. She will be talking about MENOPAUSE and the sense of empowerment that it can bring. • Niamh. She/Her. Lesbian. 40 year old. Past participant of the LGBT women’s wellness course. Mental health and recovery advocate. Happy, joyous and free! I will discuss my personal experience; being a 90’s teen with little or no positive gay female figures to relate to, my mental health struggles, addiction, internalised homophobia and being shamed when coming out. The hopeful stuff; what helped me finally accept myself as a lesbian, how I have never felt happier with just being me and how having a community to be part of makes life so much brighter.
  • Sadah, beautiful and brainy from Uganda who has been in Ireland for two years and who will talk about life in Direct Provision and #BlackLivesMatter in Ireland.
  • Hi there, my name is Leo O’Driscoll I use he, him, his and identify as Gay/Queer. I am passionate about creating a world that is safe and affirming of all the intersectional identities of our diverse community. My paid work has primarily focused on youth and mental health.
