Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the success of our events and services, and we really appreciate your willingness to contribute. Check out the available volunteering roles and requirements below.
Centre Team Volunteer
A Centre Volunteer at Outhouse will welcome visitors, provide information, and assist in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and smoothly operating space for the LGBTQ+ community. They will support staff with event logistics, crowd flow, and venue upkeep while ensuring a friendly and engaging atmosphere for all attendees.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Welcome guests, provide information, and assist with crowd flow.
- Ensure smooth movement throughout Outhouse spaces.
- Support staff in maintaining an inclusive and safe environment.
- Manage bins, bathroom stock, etc.
Outreach Team Volunteer
An Outreach Volunteer at Outhouse will play a vital role in engaging with the public during Pride events to raise awareness about Outhouse’s mission. Volunteers will distribute leaflets, solicit donations along the parade route, and communicate Outhouse’s work to those unfamiliar with it.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Distribute leaflets, solicit donations along the parade route.
- Engage with the public to raise awareness about Outhouse’s mission.
- Coherently communicate what Outhouse does and our mission to people who know nothing about us
Wellness Team Volunteer
A Wellness Team Volunteer at Outhouse will play a vital role in providing support and signposting services in the Wellness tent during key events. Volunteers will engage with attendees, offer a calming and welcoming presence, and ensure appropriate boundaries are maintained while escalating any help-seeking behaviour to a staff member on the support team.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide support and signposting in the Wellness tent.
- Engage with attendees and offer a calming and welcoming presence.

Pride Village Team Volunteer
A Pride Village Volunteer at Outhouse will play a vital role in ensuring a welcoming and engaging presence at the Outhouse tent during Pride events. Volunteers will assist with setting up and managing the tent, engage visitors, run fundraising activities, and distribute information to attendees.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist with setting up and managing the Outhouse tent.
- Engage visitors, run fundraising activities, and distribute information.
Café Team Volunteer
A Café Team Volunteer at Outhouse will play a vital role in assisting café staff during key events, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for all visitors. Volunteers will help with clearing tables, managing waste, and restocking supplies to support the smooth operation of the café.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist café staff in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
- Support with clearing tables, managing waste, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Restock supplies to help maintain efficient service.
- Chatting and directing patrons where needed.
Parade Team Volunteer
A Parade Volunteer at Outhouse will play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and safe experience for the community during Pride events. Volunteers will guide participants to the parade starting point, serve as parade marshals, and help ensure the safety and coordination of Outhouse’s contingent along the parade route.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Guide all parade participants from Outhouse to the parade start point in a timely manner.
- Serve as parade marshals, guiding Outhouse’s contingent along the route.
- Ensure safety and coordination during the parade.
- Ensure the banner and flags are appropriately handled and returned to the Outhouse team in the Pride village.

We know that volunteering is a commitment, and we truly appreciate your time and dedication. Pride is one of the most exciting times of the year, and having qualified, reliable, and passionate volunteers is essential to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and joyful experience for our community. If you’re ready to make a difference, follow these steps to apply:
1. Review the Roles – Explore the different volunteer opportunities and find the role that best suits your skills and interests. Please check the time commitments and required dates to make sure you’re available.
2. Submit Your Application – Complete the online application form before the deadline: Wednesday, 9 April at 5:00pm.
3. Application Review & Notifications – We carefully review every application to ensure the best fit for each role. You’ll be notified of your application status by Friday, 18 April. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to accept every applicant.
4. Volunteer Interviews – If selected, you’ll be invited to a short interview at some point between Tuesday, 22 April – Friday, 25 April. We’ll offer time slots during the day and early evening for flexibility.
5. Attend Volunteer Training – To ensure all volunteers are fully prepared, everyone must attend our Volunteer Training Day on Saturday, 10 May. This session will equip you with everything you need to confidently support our events and community.
